Mumtrepreneur: Pia Bahri
Pia Bahri’s enthusiasm for her business
is contagious and the story of My Gym UAE’s success is very inspiring to say the least. A mother of two, a son aged 7 and a daughter aged 6, Pia was able to hurdle the “birth pains” of putting up, maintaining and profitably operating a business of her own whilst raising her children and caring for her family. She attributes her success to the support of her husband at the time, friends and her parents who are now her partners. A year of planning, training and looking for the perfect location paid… Continue reading

The Jean Sasson Anthologies
Mayada: Daughter of Iraq
From the bestselling author of the Princess Trilogy comes Mayada: Daughter of Iraq that tells the story of one woman’s survival in Saddam Hussein’s torture jail. Growing up surrounded by riches and prestige, she had little (if any) knowledge in fending for herself when the unthinkable happened. Saddam Hussein’s regime had her thrown into a cell of the infamous Baladiyat prison along with a number of women – young and old, rich and poor. But these “shadow women” found strength in… Continue reading

Adorable hide-and-seek
One of the funniest encounters I have regularly with my little one Davaughn is the fun game of “Hide and Seek.” At the age of 2 and a couple months, he believes his hiding tactics are all so intelligent that perhaps he is the founder of the game! As I begin counting and exclaim “Where is Davaughhhhhn?” I hear an echo “Here, here Mummy!” His little twinkle toes stick out from the curtain, his reflection on the balcony all so clear and his hair, shirt and pants all so visible as the curtains don’t completely cover him in front of… Continue reading
