Meet AJ-Force from the GOSHxSuperhope league

Introduce your children to the GOSHxSuperhope league comprising AJ-Force, DarkGadget, SaMagic, ButterFly, Flowergirl and ReFroze, and let them meet real superheroes.

Superhope aims to have a positive impact on the journey of GOSH families from the Middle East by transforming children into superheroes and showing them first-hand, the real power of imagination. At Mother, Baby and Child, we love the initiative and inspirational stories, and have decided to introduce one to our readers. Meet Al Jawa (AJ-Force)

Al Jawa has always been a tremendous bundle of energy, from the moment she was born in Kuwait 11 years ago. However, she didn’t have the easiest of starts in life due to her condition, which meant she had to stay in hospital for a long time at the beginning of her treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) in London.

You may think it is difficult to smile, let alone laugh, whilst having treatment for a serious oncology condition. This didn’t apply to Al Jawa; she has never stopped laughing and smiling during her treatment. Al Jawa has a contagious laughter which can spread joy to children at any ward, and she stands by the fact that laughter is the best superpower you can have. This is where the powerful ‘AJ-Force’ was born.

A true force of nature, AJ-Force can create sand storms to generate protective shields around her friends, whilst making them giggle, laugh and feel reassured at the same time. A natural leader, AJ-Force’s confident and entertaining attitude inspires others to rise to new challenges, whilst having fun at the same time.

“Al Jawa has had a really tough time with her treatment and needed to be in hospital for a prolonged period of time at the beginning,” Emma Hedges, Haematology and Oncology Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner explains, “she has done so well in managing her own treatment and we felt that GOSHxSuperhope was a good way for Al Jawa to use her creative side and do something non-medical.”

Speaking about the experience, Al Jawa said: “My power brings laughter to all the patients at the hospital. I enjoyed watching the videos.”
