Spa review: Cinq Mondes Spa, Emerald Palace Kempinski Dubai

The architecture of this hotel doesn’t reveal the opulence indoors. Inspired by 18th century palaces in Europe, the palatial lobby features intricate gold details and a chandelier with over 40,000 Swarovski crystals – you will be at a loss for words!

Take a left and head to Cinq Mondes Spa, where you are transported to a world of complete serenity. The Parisian spa features the most gorgeous spa entrance, with symmetrical corridors and soft lighting. At the reception, I’m treated to a cold towel, fresh fruit and water, while I pick my treatment – the Deep-Relaxing Balinese massage.

The sprawling space is one you can get lost at, with walls opening up to treatment rooms. After scrubbing my tired feet with a reviving scrub, I was taken to the heated bed to knead away tension from my legs and shoulder. Having walked more than my usual steps per day, while travelling, my feet were swollen, aching and in desperate need of a massage. All products used combine state-of-the-art cosmetology and are free from parabens, silicone and mineral oils. My organic and natural Tropical Nuts Melting body balm had a subtle scent and was incredibly nourishing for my dry skin.

The treatment began with the sound of a bell and two deep breaths followed by a gentle press and rotations of the arms and feet. The masseuse began with my upper back – as it was taut with tension – pushing out the knots with slow movements and acupuncture. The relaxing massage moved downwards, to focus on my legs, drain the water retention and soothe my feet. The masseuse pressed her elbows and arms slowly into my thighs and calves, moving along with long strokes to correct the issue from deep down under the surface. I snoozed a bit while the head massage took place, before it ended with another sound of the bell. I headed straight for the sauna and warm room facilities, while taking in every gorgeous aspect of the spa. I’ll be taking my swimmers along next time, to make use of the hotel’s indoor pool – the largest in the UAE.

Details: The 50-minute treatment is priced at AED 550. Contact +971 4 248 8800 to make a booking.
