Staycation review: Zabeel House by Jumeirah

Zabeel House by Jumeirah at The Greens is an urban community-style hotel with experiences for everyone.

Tucked into a corner of The Greens, along Sheikh Zayed Road, is this contemporary hotel by the Jumeirah group. Step into the ambient lobby where graffiti adds character to setting, and a shelf adorned with an eclectic mix of collectables makes for a great sight as you check in.

ACCOMODATION

Natural light fills the New York loft-inspired rooms that feature a mix of wood, metal and subtle hints of colour. The French-balcony style bathrooms are definitely one of the prettiest features of the room, with a monochrome theme running from the sink to the shower. All amenities are organic, with a subtle citrus-scent that uplifts your mood. As for the coffee and tea-making facilities, a Nespresso machine is on hand for caffeine cravings, and a fully-stocked SMEG for late night refreshments and snacks in bed. Don’t worry, once you’re tucked in. you won’t have to budge for the remote or lights as the entire room can be powered through the suite pad.

CULINARY OFFERINGS

If you do check in on a Friday, head to Lah Lah for a relaxed casual brunch. The Pan-Asian kitchen and bar sprawls out onto the terrace, and every course is brought to the table. Begin with a plate of sushi, followed by purple Thai chicken dumplings and duck pancake rolls. Leave space for mains, as you are treated to Cantonese lobster, a comforting curry leaf prawn laksa, grilled lamb rack, Indonesian chicken stay doused in chunky peanut satay sauce and a bowl of wok fried vegetables with delish black fungus and shimeji mushrooms. Finish with sticky mango rice pudding, and a cooling ice pop from the tropical fruits’ platter.

For breakfast, Social Company is where you and your family can gather to tuck into freshly baked croissants, granola, eggs, and a selection of wholesome treats with a large cup of coffee.

ACTIVITIES

The fourth floor is where it’s all happening at this hotel. You can spend your morning lazing by the pool, on the hammocks or pool loungers, or head to the fully-equipped fitness centre while the children play at the kids’ club and make new friends.
