Review: Blue Seafood Asia

Bring your family and friends together to enjoy fantastic cooking methods, a wide variety of mouth-watering seafood meals, and homemade creations that are influenced by the distinctive flavours of Asia.

The new menu, carefully crafted by Chef Andrei Voitovici, includes a sushi platter of nigiri and maki rolls, a raw bar, salads, a varied selection of hot appetizers and tempting main dishes.

We came on a Saturday afternoon to experience the brunch and, fresh fish on display caught our attention, as soon as we walked into the restaurant, located in Burj Daman.

The venue is decorated with tropical plants and there is a huge mural of Asian fisherman above the kitchen window where you can see the chefs in action. The ambiance is vibrant and there is also a singer playing classic pop songs.

Beginning with the raw bar and sushi options, we tried nigiri and maki rolls and king fish carpaccio with truffle dressing, wasabi peas and crispy chili garlic, which was soft, delicate and had the perfect balance of flavours and texture.

From the hot appetizers, we had prawn sumai, charsiu chicken spring rolls with sweet chili sauce, mint and coriander which were crispy and utterly delicious, a generous portion of prawn on lemongrass satay with peanut sauce and lime which was rich, very filling and full of flavour, and crispy tofu with sweet bean glace, parmesan furikake, sesame seeds and spring onion. I am not a big fan of tofu, but the delicate crisp stuck to the edge gave the dish an original taste to it.

For mains, I opted for baked in banana leaf cod with green curry sauce and mix vegetables which was tender and absolutely sublime. My dining partner had Asian BBQ grilled chicken with lime and mixed herbs which was really well cooked, had a great balance of flavours and a decadent finish on the palate.

To round off our meal, I had mango tiramisu. I was really curious to try it as the original one from Italy is one of my favourite desserts and, to my delight, it was equally delicious, refreshing and a feast for my tastebuds. My dining partner chose chocolate mousse with berry sauce and he described it as rich, delightful and not too sweet.

Blue Seafood Asia is ideal for affordable casual celebrations and gatherings with family and friends. Expect hearty, fragrant and flavour-packed dishes that will take you on a culinary journey of different Asian cuisines in a lively and chic setting.
