About The Aquila School
The Aquila School – an exciting new international British school, has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by British School Overseas (BSO) across all areas of assessment. The ‘Outstanding’ rating this early on in a school’s operation is rare and The Aquila Team is very proud of this achievement. Our experienced and passionate staff are committed to ensuring every child develops a love of learning and acquires the skills and knowledge they need for the future.
Aquila’s approach to education is broad, balanced and innovative; children are encouraged to direct their own learning through collaborative group problem solving, questioning, explaining and demonstration techniques. There is an emphasis on cross-curricular learning, so that children make links between different subjects. This enables them to apply their skills and knowledge in a meaningful context, facilitating the development of essential critical thinking and communication skills.
All of this is underpinned by academic rigour.
The Aquila School provides unique ‘real world’ opportunities for learning – such as a hydroponics farm where children learn to cultivate their own produce and look after animals such as chickens and rabbits. Our children even organised the school’s official opening; traditionally, this would be the responsibility of the school’s staff, however, Mr Howsen (Aquila’s founding principal) was adamant he wanted this to be organised by the children. This is an example of an educational approach the school integrates into its curriculum called Mantle of the Expert, which uses real life contexts to generate purposeful and engaging activities for learning. This is an example of what we mean by ‘real learning for a real future’.
The Aquila School is located in Dubailand Residential Complex, 5 Minutes from The Villa, 10 Minutes from Silicon Oasis, 15 Minutes from Arabian Ranches, 20 Minutes from Mira Town Square/Damac Hills and Mirdiff and 25 minutes from Remraam community.
We also offer a monitored bus service across many areas of Dubai.
Admissions for the new academic year 2019/2020 are open.
Awards
The Aquila School was awarded the Best Design Education Project of the Year at the Design Middle East Awards 2018, a testament to the quality and design of The Aquila School’s campus and facilities.
In April 2019, The Aquila School was rated ‘Outstanding’ across all areas by British School Overseas (BSO), a UK Department for Education regulatory body that assesses and monitors international British schools.
The Aquila School opened in September 2018, and to be graded as ‘Outstanding’ this early on in a school’s operation is very rare, if not unheard of.
