As a mother, one of the
causes close to her heart is
that of children. From children
suffering from physical abuse,
poverty or malnutrition to
the many children affected
by war, the opportunities to
make a difference are wide.
The organisation that Darine
decided to support is the
Senses Private School for
Children with Special Needs.
Together with a group of
volunteers from Charity’s
Angels, she regularly bakes
and distributes cakes to the
children, interacting and playing others does not only give great
with them. In cooperation with
the director of the school, she
would organise the distribution
of food and other items the
mother, baby & child April 2011 children really need. What the
children need and love is also
the time volunteers spend with
them, participating in their
activities, from drawing to
dancing.
As a concerned and
loving human being, Darine is
also involved in doing her share
for the planet and animals,

of the “Clean the Beach” days
organised in the UAE. She
supports animal shelters, trying
to find homes for abandoned
pets and giving a helping
hand with direct contact with
the animals. When I asked her
what her motivations were
for all this hard work, Darine
mentioned her compassion
for humanity. To love people
for who they are, regardless of
their nationality, colour or other
characteristic, it is the gift she
has and tries to share with the
many people she meets through
her activities. Life is too short
to care for petty details, and we
should appreciate what is really
important in our lives. Helping
relief for the needy, it also fills who loves life, and who shows us
her with an amazing sense of
satisfaction and peace of mind.
As I noticed in many people
involved in charities, she told
me, “I feel alive, I feel high on
life, having put a smile on their
face. It is the most beautiful
thing, with my baby Davaughn,
to put a smile in these people’s
lives. I always take Dav with
me, as it is vital for him to grow
watching charitable activities
so he grows with love and
compassion towards Mother
Earth and her creatures.” She
gives and learns a lot about
life from the people she meets
through her activities, either from
other volunteers or from the
people in need. Darine has been
an active organiser of charity
events for the last five years,
gathering people for her causes
through her friends, Facebook
– with a group called Charity’s
Angels – or again Social Circles
UAE, a social website, and soon
to come a Twitter profile and
will have its own website. Her
involvement goes far beyond the
financial donations, big or small,
and she is a true inspiration for
women, working mothers and
others in the UAE. She believes
that the love you give you will
receive in return, and so much
more; she also believes in karma
and emitting positive energy is
important in today’s life. Life is
too short to waste any of it with
hypocrisy and superficiality. Her
story is that of a modern woman
that one person can change the
lives of so many.
