Karla says: “Starting Foundation Stage is a significant milestone in a child’s life. Whether it marks the beginning of their educational journey or a new step for them, it is often filled with a mix of excitement and apprehension for both parents and children.

Understanding children’s experiences during this transition period is essential for parents, educators, and caregivers to support them effectively.”

Starting school

At the ‘Early Child Development’ event, Karla will be explaining the basics of ‘attachment theory’ and why this is a valuable concept for parents and caregivers to consider. Understanding attachment theory can help parents to support their young child’s smooth transition into school and during that initial period of settling in.

Learning within school

At the event, Mother Baby & Child will also be asking the Dubai British Foundation Principal how a child’s early learning experience in school has changed in recent year; and also how it will continue to change as the world develops at an increasingly fast pace.

Karla will be explaining the use of the ‘characteristics of effective learning’ (learning skills) and how these can underpin children’s progress in school.

Building resilience and coping skills

As children are settled in school and they are learning, there will inevitably be challenges that they come to along the way. Karla will be discussing the ways that we can build the regulation and resilience skills in children, to help them overcome these challenges.

As a leader in the UAE education sphere, Karla believes that by fostering understanding, empathy and resilience, we can ensure that every child embarks on their educational journey with confidence and enthusiasm.

The Dubai British Foundation Principal will also answer your questions Q&A about how they can expect their child’s experience at school to flow.
